Many interesting projects fail to make a lasting impression on participants because the time was not taken to look back and review what was learned. The Circle publication, product or presentations plays a critical role in motivating circle participants to organize and evaluate the materials that they have exchanged and discussed into a final presentation or production phase.
Preparing the information for other participants in their Learning Circle and for others beyond the circle gives participants a clearly defined purpose and audience for their writing.
Some Circles have found that it is helpful to identify a person as the Circle Publication Production Manager. The Production Manager takes on the responsibility of checking with the other circle members to find out when each of the project summaries will be ready and creates the table of contents, or overall navigation for the publication.
Activity 3.2.1 – Planning the production management
Approximately 30 minutes
- Use an appropriate communication tool to discuss the final production with your learning circle. Consider these questions:
- Will you appoint a production manager?
- How will the tasks of production be divided up between the group members? Typical tasks are:
- Collecting the various projects.
- Ensuring that there is some uniformity in the look and feel of the projects.
- Doing a final quality check on the projects.
- Merging the separate projects into one product.
- What will be the format of your final production?
- How will you share the final product?
- Remember that the timeline for final production was established in your Learning Circle Plan.
Activity 3.2.2 – Executing the plan
Approximately 1 hour
- Working by yourself, make the final preparations for your project so that it can be added to the final product by the production team.
- Carry out the tasks and responsibilities that were assigned to you in the previous activity.
